Paris, 15 November 2017 - The International Training Centre - Draguignan (CIF-D), in collaboration with MBDA, has completed a short-range air defence initiation course for a group of eight officers from the armed forces of a Southeast Asian country. The course gave the foreign officers the competences required for the operational employment of an air defence system and thus enabled them to better understand their future role as section leaders.

The CIF-D develops and leads individual and collective training in France and other countries in artillery, infantry, fire support, aerial coordination and air defence. The trainees, who followed a combination of practical exercises and classroom teaching, observed an operational deployment on a civil site by the 54th Artillery Regiment which is equipped with the MISTRAL system. This gave them the opportunity to watch the unit’s organisation and missions in a very realistic context.

Located within the Military Schools of Draguignan, the CIF-D proposes officer training courses comparable with those followed by French officers, but tailored to the requirements of partner countries. After two weeks of intensive courses and very profitable exchanges, the Asian trainees were formally accepted as members of the Gunners at a closing ceremony at the artillery museum.
