Accenture to Co-Develop Intelligent Defence and Security Solution with SAP, Helping Defence Agencies Accelerate Digital Capabilities

Expanded collaboration to focus on extending industry capabilities in SAP S/4HANA®

SINGAPORE; May 30, 2018 – Accenture (NYSE: ACN) and SAP (NYSE: SAP) are expanding their strategic alliance to co-develop and bring to market a new digital defence solution designed to help defence and national security agencies accelerate their digital transformation journeys.

Extending the current defence and security capabilities of SAP® software, the solution will be based on SAP S/4HANA®, the real-time enterprise resource planning suite for digital businesses built on the SAP HANA® advanced in-memory platform.

“This alliance between Accenture and SAP is an exciting opportunity for us to focus on the needs of our defence clients, and develop transformational solutions to support their operations,” said Ng Wee Wei, who leads Accenture’s Health & Public Service practice in Singapore and ASEAN. “This solution will enable our clients to thrive in an increasingly digital landscape, and increase speed of outcome delivery for their missions.”

The digital defence solution will contain enhanced analytics capabilities and enable greater use of digital applications by military personnel. The solution will also offer simulation and analytics applications to enable digital war-room scenarios, helping defence agencies to plan and run their operations effectively and efficiently and respond quickly to changing operating environments.

“This solution gives defence agencies the capabilities to operate in challenging and fast-changing geo-political environments that require an intelligent platform with deployment agility, increased situational awareness and industry-specific capabilities,” said Antti Kolehmainen, managing director of Accenture’s Defence business.

The technology will also enhance leadership decision-making through data-driven insights and new security standards while enabling greater data integration across the enterprise in areas such as personnel, military supply chain, equipment maintenance, financials, and real estate.

Enhanced internet of things integration capabilities will be enabled to facilitate defence agencies to adopt and interconnect new devices that are capable of collecting and exchanging data. Flexible delivery options for both on-premise and cloud deployments will also be available to support rapid and cost-effective deployment to meet changing organisational needs.

Accenture and SAP will work together with select defence agencies to customise the SAP S/4HANA solution to support the specific needs of defence industry clients.

“The next-generation defence solution will take advantage of the technology capabilities of SAP S/4HANA and Accenture’s deep defence industry knowledge to help defence agencies build and deploy solutions more easily and cost-effectively and at the same time enable the digital transformation in defence,” said SAP’s global general manager for Public Service Industries, Isabella Groegor-Cechowicz.
